Sheila answered the phone. It was Max who greeted Sheila and asked how she was doing. Sheila was surprised and also greeted him. She added that it was nice to hear from him and wanted to know if he was phoning from America. Max pointed out he had only just returned becausehe hadn´t wanted to spend another year in New York. He expected her to know why he was phoning as she had never answered his letters. She apologized and added that she knew she owed him an explanation but explained that was a long story. She invited him for a drink that night. Tony and she werde going out and he could join them. She assured Max that Tony wanted to meet him. Max hesitated because he thought the situation was rather strange as he was her ex-lover and didn´t really want to meet her husband. Sheila didn´t agree because Tony had changed a lot during that year.

He had grown up and really cared about thei relationship. Sheila told him not to worry as Tony didn´t know about them. Max finally agreed and wanted to know at what time she expected him. She suggested 7 p.m. and Max agreed. She warned him not to be late or they wouldn´t get a good table. They ended their conversation saying that they would meet again soon.
